Homicide and Officer Involved Shooting

Release Date/Time: 10/5/2021 11:56 AM On 10-05-2021 at approximately 1:45 AM, officers responded top a ShotSpotter activation in the 200 block of Chaparral St. When they arrived, officers found a male victim (19) suffering from a mortal gunshot wound. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending family notifications. Salinas PD detective Hart is leading this homicide investigation. While responding to investigate the homicide an officer involved shooting occurred in the area of N. Main St at Chaparral St. One suspect was wounded and transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No officers were injured.
