On Wednesday, November 25 at approximately 4:40 p.m., two suspects entered the “127 Market” at North Sanborn Road and Garner Avenue, Salinas and robbed the store at gunpoint. A shot was fired by one of suspects during the robbery and both suspects fled to a waiting SUV. Officers and detectives developed suspect information during the subsequent investigation and broadcast a “be on the lookout” throughout Monterey County.
On Thursday morning, November 26, officers from the Marina Police Department located the suspect vehicle in the 100 block of Brookside Court, Marina. Marina officers conducted a surveillance of the vehicle while Salinas detectives and officers from the Violence Suppression Unit (the City’s gang unit) responded to the Marina address. With the assistance of the Marina Police Department and Monterey County Sheriffs Office, ten people were contacted and two suspects were arrested without incident. A search warrant was served at the residence on Brookside Court. One suspect, Alejo Alegre, 37, of Marina was booked into Monterey County Jail on charges of Robbery, Assault with a Deadly Weapon, gang enhancements, weapons violations, and violation of parole. The second suspect was released pending further investigation. A third suspect is outstanding, as well.
