Jacob Rede (Age 19) went into the Shell Gas Station and asked for the bathroom key. The clerk handed him the key and noticed that Rede was leaving the business with it. The clerk confronted Rede outside the business and Rede became angry, brandished a screwdriver at the clerk, and refused to give back the key. Rede got in his car and was preparing to leave when he noticed the clerk taking down his license plate number. Rede backed up and hit the clerk with his car, causing minor injuries. Officers located Rede driving into his apartment complex. Rede was found to be under the influence of alcohol. He was booked into the Monterey County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon, hit and run, and driving under the influence.
