On Sunday, August 22, 2010 at 1:53 pm, officers responded to a domestic violence call in the 1200 block of Palermo. The officer was met by the 47 year-old victim in front of the residence. She had minor visible injuries to her face. She pointed out the suspect, 30 year-old common-law husband, who was sitting in his van in the driveway. The officer told the suspect to turn off the engine and get ouf the van. The suspect refused and drove away. The van left a cloud of dust as it drove onto the dirt portion of Freedom Parkway. The officer followed the cloud of dust and did not find the van on the levy road. Upon searching the levy road, officers found that the suspect did not navigate a right turn and drove straight down a 15' ravine, causing major damage to his vehicle. The suspect was found hiding in nearby bushes with a broken leg. He was flown to a bay area hospital. The case continues pending charges against the suspect.
