On August 6, 2010, at approximately 4:50 PM, officers in the area of the 900 blk of Acosta Plaza heard multiple gunshots coming from the area. A few moments later, officers were advised of a shooting victim in the 700 blk of Gee St. When officers arrived they found a 29 yr-old male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso. The victim was taken to Natividad Medical Center and then transferred by medical helicopter to a bay area hospital. The victim was being treated and in critical condition.
The victim had just finished putting his two children, ages 4 and 2, in his vehicle when the suspect approached him. The suspect had a handgun and fired multiple rounds at the victim, striking him several times. A couple of the gunshots came within inches of the 2 yr-old, but no one else was injured. The suspect was described as a male, possibly wearing a long white t-shirt, shorts, long socks and a beanie. After the shooting, the suspect fled to a waiting crème or beige SUV, possibly a Ford, and was last scene turning onto Rider Ave. from Gee St. This shooting is being investigated as gang related.
