On Tuesday evening, June 9th, two juvenile males were shot in the 500 block of Roosevelt Street, Salinas. Salinas’ police officers interviewed several witnesses and at least two suspects were identified during the initial investigation.   Detectives continued the investigation and wrote a search warrant for the suspects' apartments on Roosevelt Street. On Friday afternoon, June 12th, Salinas detectives along with members of the Violence Suppression Unit (Salinas’ gang unit) and the narcotics unit obtained information that one suspect was in custody at juvenile hall on an unrelated probation violation and a second suspect was at his residence. The second suspect was arrested by the VSU as he left his residence. The investigators served search warrants at both residences. Detectives located evidence from the shooting and gang indicia in both residences. Both juveniles are charged with attempted murder and possession of firearms with gang enhancements. Both suspects were booked into juvenile hall and the investigation continues.
