Release Date/Time: 11/26/2012 2:32 PM On November 23, 2012, at approximately 4:40 PM, the victim was outside of a friend’s house washing his car. The victim, identified as 19 year-old Devante Nicolas Arias, was approached by two suspects. Without warning, a Hispanic male adult wearing black pants and a black shirt pulled out a handgun and shot Arias multiple times. The suspects fled in a waiting light brown or gold Toyota Camry, eastbound on Garner Ave. Although Arias was conscious and breathing at the scene, he was transported by helicopter to a Bay area hospital with life threatening injuries. At the hospital, his condition deteriorated and he was placed on life support. Salinas Police Department was notified on Sunday that Arias was pronounced deceased from injuries sustained in the shooting. The investigation is continuing.
