Salinas Police Department News

Officers responded to the above address to a report of a shooting. As the call was updated a total of 3 victims, ages, 19, 17, 14, were reported shot. Upon arrival of officers they learned that a 4th victim , 19, may have been transported by a privately owned vehicle to NMC. During the investigation a 5th victim, age 17, was located standing off to the side with a gunshot wound to her lower right leg and after giving medical personnnel a false name and DOB left the scene refusing medical treatment. Investigation revealed that a party was taking place in the garage of 1144 Green St when an argument took place and an unidentified subject stood in the street and shot into the garage wounding the 5 partygoers. One witness reported hearing an argument prior to the shooting and hearing someone say to shoot them. The partygoers were uncooperative stating that the garage door was down and they didn't see anything. Thirteen  casings were found in the street.. No additional information was obtained from the victims. All victims were taken to local hospitals with gunshot wounds to their lower legs and one victim suffered serious wounds after the bullet struck her in the buttocks and traveled up into her abdominal cavity.  Anyone with information may contact the Salinas Police Department at 775-4222.
