Release Date/Time: 12/19/2012 2:13 AM The two victims, males, ages 19 and 22, were sitting in their vehicle at the above location. They heard several shots coming from behind them, they ducked and looked up and saw the shadows of two people running away northbound. They found that their vehicle was hit once by gunfire on the right front door panel. Neither intended victim was injured. They fled the area in the vehicle and were later contacted by officers to obtain their statements. Officers who were already in the area on unrelated business, responded and saw two persons running southbound toward 918 Acosta Plaza. Numerous officers conducted an area check with negative results for anybody involved. Officers found several large caliber bullet casings on the track area of Jesse Sanchez Elementary School. This is just across the wrought iron fence from the Acosta Plaza complex and appears to have been where the shots were fired from. The shooting is being investigated as gang-related.
