Incident: Attempted Murder - Shooting

Officers responded to the area of Cortez St. & Mae Ave. for a report of a shooting.  They located a 20 year old male with gunshot wounds to his lower back area.  The victim said he was walking southbound on Mae Ave. just north of Cortez St. when a minivan drove northbound past him.  The vehicle stopped and two males exited.  As they were getting out, someone asked the victim if he was a gang member.  The victim did not respond and continued walking.  One of the males fired several rounds, striking him.  The victim hid from the suspects as they ran away in a southbound direction on Mae Ave.  The suspect who shot was wearing a gray hoodie with the hood tied tightly around his face.  There was no further suspect or vehicle description given.  The victim was flown to the Bay Area for treatment and was expected to survive.
