Location: 154 W. Market
Ignacio Ramirez (20) drove a 15 year old male to the La Paloma Market on W. Market Street to steal beer. The 15 year old went into the store while Ramirez waiting nearby in the truck . The 15 year old grabbed two 18 packs of beer and tried to leave. The 15 year old kicked the front door of the store, attempting to open it, only to find out it was a “pull to open” type of door. After he got the door open, he ran to the waiting get away truck but in doing so he tripped and fell. The 15 year old was able to eventually place the beer into the bed of the get away truck, where it was plainly visible to the officer who later stopped them. A witness to the theft followed the suspects in another car until a Salinas Police officer located them on Nacional Street. Ramirez and the 15 year old both had outstanding warrants. Ramirez' warrant was for previous traffic violations and the 15 year old's warrant was for probation violation in Sacramento County. All the beer was recovered and both suspects were taken into custody and booked for burglary and conspiracy. During the booking process at Juvenile Hall the 15 year old spit on an officer and so he was additionally charged battery on a police officer. Ramirez was also charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
