Location: Under 100 block of Smith Street

Neighbors reported a burglary in progress at a residence in the under 100 block of Smith Street. Officers arrived in time to see the suspect, Juan Rodriguez (age 51), exiting out the back door. Rodriguez had a suitcase in hand, loaded with the victim's property. He was taken into custody without incident. Rodriguez also had cash and other items from the house inside his pockets.

Rodriguez was found to be on probation and was booked into the Monterey County Jail.
