The Victim had his 1999 Honda Accord marked for sale and parked in front of his residence. A Hispanic male suspect inquired about the car and the victim took him on a test drive. In the area of Curtis Street and Third Street, the suspect pulled over and brandished a black revolver handgun. The suspect also told the victim to turn over his wallet and then fled in the Honda.
The suspect description provided by the victim matches a similar carjacking/robbery case that occurred January 3, 2010. During this case, the victim was also selling his vehicle and the suspect also produced a black revolver handgun at the victim. The suspect description is a Hispanic male adult, 19-25 years old, medium build, with buck or capped front teeth.
The Salinas Police Department recommends a few safety tips for individuals selling their vehicles:
1. Always have someone else with you during the showing and sale of your vehicle.
2. Ask the potential buyer for his California Driver's License or valid proof of identification. Hold onto the Driver's license/identification.
