Release Date/Time: 12/22/2011 10:36 AM On December 14th, Salinas Police received a report of a possible child abuse. A two month old infant male was in the Emergency Room with extremely serious head trauma. The baby, whose injuries were considered life-threatening, was taken to a bay area hospital for treatment. Doctors determined the injuries to the victim were non-accidental and symptomatic of shaken baby syndrome. On December 21st, Salinas Police detectives concluded their investigation and arrested the baby’s father for assault by a caregiver resulting in great bodily or permanent injury to the victim. Goetze, 24, was booked into the Monterey County Jail with bail set at $500,000. The baby remains under hospital care.
