Officers were patrolling the downtown area when they heard 2 shots come from the area of the Fox Theater. As officers approached they saw Taurus Tate (Age 20) running on Gabilan Street near Main Street. Tate stopped and was seen hiding something in a planter box and was immediately ordered by officers to get on the ground. Tate ran westbound on Gabilan Street and a short distance later was taken into custody. Officers searched the planter and found a loaded handgun. Officers also found two expended shell casings from the handgun in the parking lot behind the Fox Theater.

Tate was booked into the Monterey County Jail for discharging a firearm and carrying a loaded firearm.
