1/22/2010 12:47 PM Release Date/Time: Officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 700 block of Alvarado Drive. Officers eventually located the scene when they heard a shot and saw gun smoke rising from the backyard of a residence. Four individuals came out of the residence and were detained. A protective sweep of the residence was conducted and numerous weapons were located including a rifle that was determined to be the weapon that had been fired. All of these weapons were seized. Gary Renneberg (Age 22) and Barry Knappe (Age 22), were booked into the Monterey County Jail for Discharging a firearm within city limits, conspiracy, and resisting arrest.
The other male and female were questioned and released without any criminal charges being filed against them.
