Release Date/Time: 11/24/2012 10:32 PM Mall security officers observed the suspect Jose Luis Rangel (21) an employee of Old Navy parked and playing loud music in his vehicle. Rangel was heavily intoxicated and security took his car keys and placed them on the hood of the car. Security was trying to encourage Rangel to call for a ride and leave his car parked at the mall. Rangel broke away from Security, grabbed his car keys and a struggle to took place between Rangel and two security officers standing in the open drivers side door. Rangel put the car in reverse and accelerated knocking both security officers to the ground. One of the female security officers sustained a head injury and was life flighted to San Jose as a precaution. Rangel fled in his car and later was spotted by CHP Helicopter driving blacked out near 2290 N. Main Street. Patrol units located Rangel who was eventually booked for several felony DUI related charges. The other security officer suffered minor injuries. Release Authorized by: Sergeant John Lynn |
