Incident: Gang Member In Possession of a Firearm

Officers of the violence Suppression Unit, the city's gang unit, attempted to contact Manuel Martinez (18), a suspected gang member, and an unidentified subject on Elkington. Initially, Martinez began to run with his hands in his shirt pockets. When challenged by officers he stopped abruptly and was ordered to show his hands. At that time the second subject ran the other way.  Martinez quickly advised that he had an illegally possessed gun in his pocket. He was taken into custody and officers recovered a loaded 38 cal revolver from his shirt pocket. He was booked in County Jail.
