On November 29, 2009 at approximately 1:00 a.m., Carlos Anthony Alfaro, 27, of Salinas, arrived home in the 700 block of Williams Road after being out for the evening.  Alfaro was walking alone along the parking lot sidewalk to his apartment.  Alfaro was confronted by at least one unidentified shooter and several rounds were fired from a handgun.   Alfaro was struck several times in the face, chest, and torso.  Friends and family and came out when they heard the shots fired.  They found Alfaro suffering from the above-mentioned wounds.  The family and neighbors called the police and EMS.  Alfaro was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting.  The case is being investigated as gang related.
