December 9, 2009 6:00 p.m.

On December 9th at 11:13 a.m. officers responded to a report of shots fired and one victim lying in the roadway on Sutter Street near Trinity Avenue, Salinas.  Officers arrived and found one victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso.  EMS arrived on scene and the victim was pronounced deceased.  The victim is identified as Jesus DeHaro Gutierrez, age 26, of Salinas.  Officers and detectives were able to determine that Gutierrez was involved in an altercation in the street and subsequently was shot by a suspect.  It is unknown if there is more than one suspect involved in this case.  This murder is being investigated as gang-releated.
