December 11, 2009 5:00 p.m.

On December 11th at approximately 10:05 a.m., officers responded to the 1200 block of Rider Avenue on several reports of shots fired and a victim of a shooting in a vehicle.  Officers arrived on scene and found one Hispanic male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the torso.  Emergency Medical personnel transported the victim to Natividad Medical Center where he died of his injuries shortly after arrival.  The victim has been identified as Santiago Cardenas Amezcua, age 31, of Salinas.  The suspect is described as a male wearing a black hooded top and white shorts, last seen getting into a silver or gray mid-size sedan or similar vehicle and fleeing at a high rate of speed.
