On July 30, 2010, at approximately 5:37 PM, officers responded to the 1200 blk of First Ave. on the report of a shooting. When officers arrived they found a male victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the upper torso. The male, in his 30’s or 40's, was tended to by medical personnel but was pronounced dead at the scene. His identification is being withheld until the notification of next of kin.

It appears that the victim was talking with a two other men in front of a residence when a late 1990’s or early 2000’s model Chevrolet, 2 door SUV, red or burgundy in color, drove passed. The vehicle made a U-turn at Towt St. and First Ave. and drove up to the victims. Some type of argument ensued and someone from the SUV opened fire, killing the victim. No other persons were injured. The vehicle fled eastbound on First Ave. This homicide is being investigated as gang related.

We believe there are other witnesses to this murder, as it occurred near a busy street, in the early evening.
