Release Date/Time: 8/17/2010 1:58 PM At approximately 8:25 AM, Salinas Police Officers responded to the 1100 block of Alamo Way for a report of a victim of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found the victim, Jorge Martinez (Age 17), on the sidewalk suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso and head. Martinez was transported to a local hospital and later pronounced deceased. Witnesses describe seeing a black compact car, newer model, similar to a Nissan Altima leaving the area at a high rate of speed toward Pino Way. The vehicle’s driver, described as a heavy-set, Hispanic male adult, is the suspect who shot the victim. This case is being investigated as gang related.
