On August 14, 2010, at approximately 8:20 PM, officers responded to the area of Closter Park on the report of shots fired. Initially, officers were unable to locate any victims and no persons flagged down officers as they drove in the area. Minutes later, officers received information that a victim of a shooting was being transported by taxi to a local hospital.

Officers responded to the hospital and contacted a 29 yr-old male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper torso. He is in stable condition and being treated at a local hospital for non life-threatening injuries. The victim stated that there might be another victim that was with him in his vehicle. The victim provided his vehicle description and officers located the vehicle parked in the 800 blk of Beech St. Officers found the second victim, a 19 yr-old male, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his head. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld until the Monterey County Coroner’s Office can make notification to next of kin. This murder is being investigated as gang related.
