The Salinas Police Department will be hosting the National Night Out event on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the soccer fields located at the intersection of Constitution Blvd. and East Laurel Drive in Salinas. National Night Out is designed to:
· Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness
· Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs
· Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships
· Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back
This is a nation wide event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch,Target stores, and the Salinas POlice Department. It is expected that approximately 15,000 cities, towns, and communities across the country will be participating on August 3rd.
We anticipate over 20 non-profit organizations will participate with booths to promote their information. We will also have the CHP and CalStar helicopters on site.
