Officer Neil Herrier will serve his last shift on Tuesday December 15th 2009. He has served the public for over 30 years. His last briefing will be held in the Rotunda at 7:30 AM. He will go off duty at 5:30 PM.

CSI Unit-
One of the original three CSI’s beginning in1992 thru present
In-house CSI instructor for new CSI’s and officers
Certified by LETA in March 2002 as a Basic Law Enforcement Thermographer and a received an advanced certification in September 2002. Developed and presented an in-house thermography course for CSI’s and tactical officer’s in the use of thermal imaging equipment
IBIS Unit-
2006- Attended the basic IBIS course in Florida and began IBIS work part time and in 2008 took over the program full time
2009- Received a plaque from Forensic Technologies Inc. recognizing our IBIS Unit for over 250 IBIS Hits
Awards
1990 - MCPOA Award of Merit for an investigation leading to the arrest of a serial arsonist
2007- Monterey County Domestic Violence Prevention Council recognition award for work on domestic violence cases
2007- Monterey County Alliance on Aging recognition as a volunteer serving as an Elder Abuse/Law Enforcement Resource instructor for the Monterey County Ombudsman Office and for serving as an advisory council member for the same organization.
2009- Named SPD’s Officer of the Year for 2008
