Incident: Possession/Possession for Sales of Methamphetamine, Violation of Parole, Resisting Arrest and Providing False Information to a Police Officer

A Salinas Police Officer was patrolling in the 1500 block of North Sanborn Road behind the shopping center.  The officer observed Frank Daniel Gonzalez, 44 and a female sitting in a vehicle acting suspicious.  As a second officer arrived Gonzalez exited the vehicle.  He attempted to flee from the officers and was Tased.  Gonzalez fell to the ground but was able to get up and flee on foot.  As he ran Gonzalez discarded several grams of methamphetamine and an undetermined amount of money.  Gonzalez ran several blocks before he was taken into custody.  Officers followed Gonzalez’ path in order to retrieve the money and drugs that he had discarded.  Most of the money had been picked up by people in the area and not turned over to police.  Additional heroin and methamphetamine was located in the car.  The female passenger was not charged with a crime.  Gonzalez was later booked into Monterey County Jail for possession/possession for sales of methamphetamine and heroin, violation of parole, resisting arrest and providing a false name to law enforcement.
