Violence Suppression Unit officers effected a traffic stop for traffic violations on a vehicle driven by Javier Benitez (25) in the area of S. Sanborn at John St. Benitez was found to be on probation, a subsequent search revealed he was in possession of methamphetamine and he also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. Benitez was arrested and later transported to county jail on a charge of possession of the controlled substance.

Benitez' passenger Maria Garcia (24) had a misdemeanor warrant, she was cited and released.
