Release Date/Time: 12/24/2009 11:27 PM Officers of the Violence Suppression Unit, the City's Gang Unit, observed a vehicle being driven with only parking lights in the area of Las Casitas. The officers observed as the solo driver, Andrew Salcido (19), a suspected gang member, continued to act in a suspicious fashion. The officers initiated a traffic stop and observed as Salcido struck a parked car while in the process of pullin over. As Salcido sat in the vehicle one officer questioned him about his actions and asked for ID. Salcido reached back for his wallet and as he did so lifted his right side up off the seat. A second officer observed the grip of a semi-auto pistol concealed under Salcido's right leg and challenged him at gunpoint. Salcido was taken into custody without further incident. A records check revealed the pistol was stolen. Salcido was booked into County Jail. Release Authorized by: John Murray |
