Location: Parking lot of 425 Monterey Street (Travel Inn)

Monterey County Gang Task Force Officers observed David Darcus (Age 40), walking in the area of the Travel Inn Motel. Upon seeing their patrol vehicle, he immediately retreated back into the parking lot area of the Travel Inn. Officers made contact with Darcus who was evasive in answering any of their questions. Darcus eventually admitted to being on parole and later found to be a parolee-at-large. Officers attempted to search Darcus who became agitated and unwilling to submit to a search of his person. Darcus kept his hands inside his sweatshirt pocket and refused to take them out. Darcus then became combative and attempted to bite at officers and during the fight punched an officer. Darcus was tased and eventually taken into custody. Approximately 10.1 grams of rock cocaine was located on Darcus as well as a large sum of money.

Darcus was booked into the Monterey County Jail for possession of a controlled substance for sale, resisting arrest, battery on an officer, and parole violations.
