Release Date/Time: 8/23/2010 8:52 AM Violence Suppression Unit Officers initiated a vehicle stop on two Salinas gang members. The driver, later positively identified as Michael Saldivar (Age 19), ran from the vehicle and jumped a fence toward Natividad Creek. The passenger, Joseph Saldivar (Age 39), a parolee, was removed from the vehicle where a stolen .22 caliber semi-automatic pistol was recovered. Officers set up a perimeter and searched for Michael but were unsuccessful in finding him. Joseph was booked into the Monterey County Jail and the investigation continues.
