Incident: Possession of a loaded and concealed firearm and possession of drugs for sale

Members of the Monterey County Joint Gang Task Force stopped a 1992 Chevy Blazer for a seatbelt violation at the above location. Upon contacing the occupants they smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A subsequent search revealed drugs and a loaded firearm in the vehicle. The driver, Francisco Heredia, 19, and his passenger, Jose Garcia, 18, both of Salinas were taken into custody for the above violations. Both were admitted gang members and were booked into Monterey County Jail.
