Incident: Possession of cocaine, Resisting arrest, Parole violation

Salinas Police Officers were dispatched to the area of Alisal Street and California Street on information that a male subject was attempting to purchase a 13-year-old boy. Officers located the suspect, Richard Moreno (Age 49), walking on Riker Street. Officers contacted Moreno who immediately took off running. After a short foot pursuit, officers were able to catch up to Moreno. Moreno did not comply with the officers' commands and kicked at one of them. After a struggle, Moreno was taken into custody.

A search of Moreno revealed that he was in possession of cocaine. Moreno was also found to be a sex registrant and on parole. The victim in this case was not located. Moreno was booked in Monterey County Jail for possession of cocaine, parole violation and resisting arrest.
