On January 13, 2010, Salinas Police initiated an investigation of a residential burglary.  The victim in this case was a Marina Police Officer and among the items stolen were several weapons.  During the investigation Salinas Police developed information that George Garcia 26 was involved in the burglary.  State parole agents and Salinas Police conducted a search of Garcia's residence.  Officers recovered stolen property and handguns taken during the burglary, but Garcia was not home.  Aware of the search Garcia was now hiding from police and in violation of his parole. Further investigation revealed Garcia was now headed for Mexico.  On Jan.14, and at 11:00 p.m. Garcia was located trying to cross the border into Mexico via Calexico.   Garcia ran from authorities but was soon taken into custody.  In Monterey County Garcia faces charges of Burglary, Possession of Stolen Property and parole violation.  He may also be facing additional charges as a result of his conduct at the border.
