On 9-04-09, an armed robbery occurred at Magana's Meat Market located at 965 N. Main Street. Two armed gunmen had entered the store and robbed the store of items. Both suspects were seen by witnesses leaving the store and getting into a  vehicle which patrol officers were able to locate and stop near the area of the robbery. During the stop, Samuel Madrid (23), was arrested with items taken during the robbery. The second suspect as well as the firearms used were not located in the vehicle.
 
During the investigation, detectives were able to identify the second suspect. On 12-01-09, a search warrant was served in the 15000 block of Carbonero Street in the City of Salinas by members of the Detective Unit and SWAT Team . During the search warrant the second suspect, Jonathan Rivera (20), exited the residence and was taken into custody without incident. During the search of Rivera’s bedroom, a Mac-11 assault weapon with a loaded magazine and a silencer was found.  The Mac-11 appears to be the weapon used during the robbery.  Several items of gang indicia as well as other items from the robbery were also found.
 
Rivera was booked in the Monterey County Jail for numerous charges, to include robbery, gang member in possession of an assault weapon weapon and silencer, and gang enhancements.
