Incident: Robbery/Resists-Delays Officers/Assault on Peace Officer/Probation Violation
Report #: 10-071142
Date: Thursday, 7/22/2010
Time: 7:48 PM
Location: Little Caesar's Pizza, 45 S. Sanborn Rd.

On Thursday, July 22, 2010 at 7:48 pm, officers were dispatched to Little Caesar's Pizza, 45 South Sanborn Road in reference to a robbery that had just occurred.  It was determined that a suspect, later determined to be Mario Becerra Cota, (20), went in and asked for change.  When the clerk opened the till, Cota reached over while also pushing the clerk out of the way.  He grabbed a hand full of money and ran out.  The first officer on the scene provided suspect description and shortly thereafter officers conducting an area check nearby on John St. saw Cota, who matched the suspect description.  As they attempted to contact Cota, he took off running.  One officer tackled him and Cota began fighting with the officer.  A canine was deployed and subdued Cota allowing officers to handcuff him.  Cota was determined to be the robber; some money was found in his possession.  The officers were not injured while attempting to take Cota into custody.  After a medical clearance for minor puncture wounds to his wrist, Cota was booked at the county jail for robbery, resisting/delaying officers, probation violation, and assault on a peace officer.
