The Salinas Police Department will host National Night Out on Tuesday, August 5th from 3:00pm - 8:00pm at Natividad Creek Park. National Night Out is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) and supported by Target Corporation. The Salinas Police Department invites the citizens of our community to participate in this event on August 5th, which involves over 11,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases around the world to speak out in one voice against drugs, violence and gang activity. The focus of Salinas Police Department's involvement in National Night Out is to (1) heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; (2) generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime efforts; (3) strengthen community and neighborhood spirit and partnerships with local law enforcement; (4) send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods and the community are organizing and fighting back. There will be many public safety displays along with numerous organizations providing useful information that will help us as a community achieve our goal. If you have any questions about National Night Out contact Community Services Liaison Jenny Bryant at ext, 7044 or Sergeant Jay Malispina at ext. 7247. |
