On 8/29/10, at approximately 11:00 AM, Officers were dispatched to a possible home invasion robbery in the 1600 block of Madrid Street and the 100 block of Mayfair Drive.  The one on Mayfair Drive occurred approximately 10 minutes after the one on Madrid Street.  It was later found that the same suspects were involved. The suspects gained entry into the residence located on Mayfair  Drive and attempted to gain entry into the residence located on Madrid Street. At least one of the suspects was armed with a firearm.   

Today, officers served a search warrant in connection to the attempted home invasion that occurred on Sunday at both Madrid Street and Mayfair Drive. Detectives, Violence Suppression Unit and SWAT officers arrived at a residence on the 400 block of Calaveras Drive. Steven Ramirez (22), a member of the Army National Guard, and a suspect in the home invasion, was contacted at the home with his mother and taken into custody. The primary suspect in the home invasion, Daniel Ramirez (21), was not present at the home.

A search of the residence revealed a loaded revolver with additional ammunition and a loaded rifle, both in the living room next to the couch. The revolver is believed to be the weapon used in the attempted home invasion. Gang indicia and a large quantity of military equipment including: ballistic body armor , helmet, several rifle tripods, several high capacity magazines, rifle optics, and numerous other military items were found belonging to Steven Ramirez. The Army Criminal Investigations Division was contacted and they will look into the theft of government property by Steven Ramirez. 

Steven Ramirez was booked into the Monterey County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon and burglary. Daniel Ramirez is still outstanding.
