Two males, 40 and 43 years old, along with several others were standing in front of an apartment in the 100 blk of Columbine Dr. A red Nissan Sentra pulled up and a male got out of the passenger side of the vehicle. The person walked up to the group and without saying a word opened fire on them. The 40 and 43 year old males were struck multiple times by the gunfire.
The suspect got back into the car and fled. A few minutes later a resident on Parkside St. off of W. Laurel called to report a suspicious vehicle. The resident saw a red Nissan Sentra make a rapid u-turn on Parkside The Nissan stopped and two males got out and got into a waiting brown SUV (possibly a Trailblazer) The SUV sped off. Both males were described as being Hispanic in thier 20's. Both were said to be short and thin, wearing dark checkered Pendletons. The driver of the SUV was a female. The Nissan was positively identified as the shooting suspect vehicle. It had been reported stolen from an ag field at Alisal Rd and Hartnell earlier in the day.
The two victims were later flown to bay area trauma centers fro treatment of their wounds. Their wounds appear non life threatening. This crime is being investigated as "gang related.".
