Stolen Vehicle, Vehicle Pursuit, Resisting Arrest, Gang Enhancements
Release Date/Time: 3/3/2011 10:53 AM Monterey County Joint Gang Task Force Officers observed a vehicle with a defective brake light exiting Highway 101 at the S. Sanborn Road exit. Once Officers activated their emergency lights and siren the suspect vehicle accelerated and turned onto Elvee Drive. A records check of the vehicle showed it to be stolen from the City of Salinas. The 1/2 mile pursuit reached a speed of approximately 70 MPH before terminating at the dead end of Elvee Drive. The driver, Alfredo Jacobo (Age 22), and his unknown passenger fled from pursuing officers down into the ravine. A K-9 Officer and his partner "Matchez" arrived and began tracking Jacobo through the brush. Jacobo was located several hundred feet away from the traffic stop and apprehended by "Matchez". The passenger eluded capture. Jacobo, who is a gang member, was transported to Natividad Medical Hospital and received surgery to repair the dog-bite injuries he received to his left arm during the arrest.
