Incident: Traffic Collision Involving PD Motor

A Salinas PD Motor Officer was riding his police motorcycle northbound on Church approaching W. San Luis when another driver was driving her 2001 Jaguar southbound on Church. As the officer approached the intersection the other driver attempted to make a left turn onto W. San Luis in front of the officer. The officer attempted an evasive driving maneuver to avoid the collision, but was struck broadside by the Jaguar. The officer rolled over the hood of the Jaguar striking the windshield with his helmet and shoulder. Then he rolled off of the hood and onto the roadway. The officer was aided by citizens in the area until medical personnel and other police personnel could arrive.The officer was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and released. The other driver sustained no injuries. The Jauguar sustained minor damage while the motorcycle sustained major damage. The driver of the Jaguar was cited for a right-of-way violation.
