Salinas Police Officers were patrolling the area because an attempted homicide had just occurred. Officers observed a  White Lexus driven by a Hispanic male matching the description of the supect in the attempted homicide.  Officers initiated a traffic stop of the vehicle.  During the contact, the driver, Timothy Rodriguez (Age 27), reluctantly admitted he was on parole. Officers asked Rodriguez to step out of his vehicle and as he did, ran southbound on Alamo Way. Officers gave chase and ordered Rodriguez to stop. Rodriguez was also warned that if he did not stop, a K-9 dog would be released. When Rodriguez did not stop, K-9 Enzo was released to join the chase. As K-9 Enzo approached Rodriguez, he stopped and layed down. 

Officers were able to take Rodriguez into custody and during a search of his person, found a meth pipe in his pant pocket.  Rodriguez was later found not to be involved in the shooting. Rodriguez was booked into the Monterey County Jail for violation of parole, possession of drug paraphernalia, and resisting arrest.
