Attempted Murder Arrest
Release Date/Time: 11/21/2012 6:00 PM On October 13, 2012, a concerned citizen had contact with the victim that had been beaten two days earlier. The citizen believed the 55 year-old transient victim was not acting right and called the police. When the officer arrived he also felt the victim was seriously hurt and called for medical personnel to evaluate the victim. The victim was able to tell the officer and medical personnel he was beaten near the area of the XL Grindhouse Restaurant two days prior. The victim had noticable injuries to his face and head. Hewas transported to a local hospital where his health quickly deteriorated and he fell into a coma. The victim had sustained serious head injuries and was eventually flown to a bay area hospital where he stayed in a coma for several days. He is currently still recovering in the bay area. Salinas Police detectives identified two suspects, Robert DeLeon (43) and James DeLeon (32), owners of the XL Grindhouse Restaurant, as being responsible for beating the victim. According to information received by detectives, the suspects were angry with the victim for his continuous loitering around the restaurant. Today, detectives contacted both suspects in the area of the 100 block of S. Main St. and arrested them without incident.
