Up-date Bicycle Safety Rodeo
Release Date/Time: 10/22/2012 2:17 PM Yesterday, the Salinas Police Activities League hosted its yearly Bicycle Safety Rodeo as part of the Bi-National Health & Resource Fair. 47 children and their families participated in the free event where each child received a helmet, bicycle safety inspection, a bicycle safety class, and tested what they learned through a closed course. The children learned the importance of always wearing a helmet, how to signal when turning or stopping, and how to navigate through various roadway obstacles. Salinas PAL also raffled away a total of three bicycles. A small group of Salinas Police Explorers, a Community Service Officer, a community member, and two Police Officers dedicated their time to making this a successful and fun event. Salinas PAL is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing the community with events such as this and many more throughout the year. SPAL's Police and community volunteers are committed to providing our youth with alternatives to violence through educational and recreational activities throughout the year. We depend on community support through tax-deductible donations as well as the hard work of volunteers. We at SPAL believe in filling playgrounds not prisons. Your child can benefit from free programs that include bowling, Jr. Giants baseball, karate, and more.
